Welcome To Flourish piano studio:
Flourish Piano Studio is located in Airdrie Alberta, and serves the surrounding areas as well. I offer both mobile lessons in your home and studio lessons in my home. As a studio, we enjoy two recitals each year, and one practice party every spring. The practice party is a practicing incentive that runs throughout the year and encourages both consistent practice and a fun opportunity to build community between the students.
Music doesn’t happen in our fingers… It starts in our heart, and partners with skill, understanding, and love to become an expression. I have taught piano for over 20 years, and my heart’s desire with every student is to empower their hearts, minds and hands to play their music with joy. Every person is different, and I love getting to know my students in this one on one learning environment. My goal is for every student to learn to read and feel music competently so they can continue playing whatever songs they desire long after their season of piano lessons is over. I am always learning with my students and navigating the fine balance of calling out their potential while maintaining a very positive and encouraging learning experience. I hold a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree (2002) and have completed the Grade 10 Royal Conservatory level. I teach all levels, from beginners to adults. For very young ones (ages 3 to 4) I love the Wunderkeys approach, which is very engaging and fun, introducing little fingers to the basics of music. I use the Royal Conservatory books with most of my students, and while I do prepare students for exams, this is completely optional. I enjoy using other method books as well and aim to use whatever approach is best for each student. Apart from teaching, I also enjoy regularly accompanying for ballet classes and exams.
